About Me

So who is this guy, and why should I listen to him about whisky?

The first time I tried whisky seriously was in the early 2000’s, when I happened upon a Johnnie Walker exhibit by chance. They were tasting Black Label alongside several unidentified single malts. The single malts were each chosen to showcase a particular flavor, with the emphasis on the balance of the blended Scotch. I was intrigued.

Shortly after, I attended a Johnnie Walker tasting event where Red, Back, Green, Gold and Blue Labels were presented side by side. My interest grew.

It wasn’t long until I discovered the wonders of single malt Scotch, attending several tasting events including The Macallan Master Class in 2010 where I was fortunate enough to try their 21, 25, and 30 year old offerings, among others.

Since then, I have continued to attend numerous tastings and releases, constantly looking to expand my knowledge, and my repertoire of whiskies. My interest expanded from Scotch to include Bourbon, and eventually all world whiskies. In 2020, I started creating custom personalized tastings for private events.

In 2018, I decided to put my knowledge to the test, earning certifications as a (Scotch) Whisky Ambassador and Bourbon Steward. In 2019, I completed the Executive Bourbon Steward certification program. Most recently, I earned a certificate in Irish Whiskey.

To date I have toured over four dozen craft distilleries.  I’ve sampled over 750 different whiskies from 16 different countries, and have over 200 bottles in my personal collection.

Along the way, I’ve picked up some information that I find interesting, and I think it may interest you, too. Whether you are just starting out on your whisky journey, have been at it a while and are looking to learn more, or are even further along than I am, I appreciate the opportunity to share my experiences with you, and look forward to continuing the journey together.
