Welcome. Probably the most important word I will ever write on this site.
Not because it is the first word. But because I am glad you’re here, and welcome is how I want you to feel.
Welcome is the perfect greeting. It says that you are an honored guest, and that you are, well, welcome.
Welcome, because if nothing else, whisky should be inclusive. Whisky is about friendship, and good times.
There is no wrong way to drink whisky, as long as you drink responsibly. The right way is however you enjoy it. If you like it neat, as some people claim is the “only” way, welcome! But if you prefer it on the rocks, welcome! And if you would rather have it in a cocktail? Welcome!
Whisky is for everyone (of legal drinking age). Some think of it as an “old man” drink, but increasingly it is being discovered by a new generation, and not just one gender. Don’t act surprised when the young woman next to you orders a whisky. Don’t say “Wow, you really drink that?” or “Who is that for?” Smile, and say “Welcome!”
